Kanankhu villagers extend relief

With the initiative of the newly elected Chandel ADC Member Ts Willingson Anal, the Kanankhu villagers in Chandel District Headquarters provided relief to the flood affected area of Chakpikarong and also extended help in rehabilitating the flood victims on Tuesday.
Accompanied by the Kanankhu villagers, Ts Willingson Anal, Member of 12- District Head Quarters DCC went to Chakpikarong Sub-Divisional Head Quarters and helped the flood affected villagers for rehabilitation.
Using spades and shovels, the Kanankhu villagers engaged in cleaning the knee deep thick layers of mud and silt from the residential houses of flood victims, roads, Community Health Centre and School along with other villagers of the surrounding villages.
Briefing the media persons, the ADC Member said that Chakpikarong Sub-Divisional Headquarters is one of the severely affected areas by the recent overflowed water from the Chakpi river.
Apart from washing away several houses and disconnecting the bridge, the flood deposited thick layer of silt, timbers and logs all over the surface in and around Chakpikarong, he added.
Ts Willingson further maintained that after considering the hardship faced by the flood victims of the area, Kanankhu villagers donated some cash as a relief assistance besides extending help in cleaning the area for their rehabilitation.
Meanwhile, the Serou - Salluk road in Chakpikarong Sub-Division was repaired after a landslide cut off the section of the road during the recent incessant rainfall in the State.
The road was repaired after cutting new areas using four JCB Excavators which were provided by HL Lovingson Anal, ST Rocko, Khupmang Haokip and NL Ngamshel.
Fuel for the JCB Excavators was provided by St Nunghlung Victor, MLA 41-Chandel A/C and Robert Singh Kshetrimayum, DC Chandel.
