Imphal, January 04 2025: Manipuri Sahitya Parishad condoled the untimely demise of Puya narrator and Shumang Leela script writer Oinam Chana Lukhoi and Nat Sankirtan singer Guru Heisnam Ashangbi (Thanga Ashangbi).

In separate releases, Manipuri Sahitya Parishad mourned the untimely demise of Oinam Lukhoi alias Chana Lukhoi who passed away on December 29, 2024 and Nat Sankirtan singer Guru Heisnam Ashangbi alias Thanga Ashangbi who breathed her last on December 16, 2024.Chana Lukhoi was a recipient of Khumanthem Kaomacha Ningsing Gold Medal awarded by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, while Guru Heisnam Ashangbi was recipients of Thouranishabi Gold Medal, Sangeet Ratna Upadhi and Kshetri Achou Gold Medal.

She also sponsored Heisnam Ashangbi Gold Medal award.

A meeting, presided over by Manipuri Sahitya Parishad president Longjam Joychandra Singh, was convened during which the loss of the duo was condoled and a two-minute silence was also observed as a mark of respect to the departed souls.

They also prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace in heavenly abode, the releases added.
