Fake document racket busted, two held

A team of Thoubal district police arrested two persons involved in creating fake documents to obtain SIM cards and sell them to the public.
The arrestees have been identified as Dolaipabam Isha Ahamed (32) s/o (L) Md Siraj Ahmed alias Nahatomba, and Altab Hussian (33) s/o (L) Md Zaheruddin of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai.
According to a police report, reliable input was received at about 4.30 pm Sunday that one Dolaipabam Isha Ahamed, agent/ retailer of Vodafone & proprietor of DP enterprises located at Lilong Haoreibi Lairabakhong, community Hall, along with his associates was involved in fabricating documents for use in obtaining new SIM cards unscrupulously.
The SIM cards were then sold on the black market and used in committing illegal activities.
Acting on the information, a team of Lilong PS led by SDPO Thoubal (in-charge) and assisted by CDO teams picked up Dolaipabam Isha.
During a spot enquiry, Isha revealed that he along with his associate, namely Altab Hussian made fake documents like driving licenses, etc., to procure mobile SIM cards which were then sold illegally.
The police followed up on the information and raided the shop of Altab Hussian, named "Altab Travel Agency" located at Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai around 8.24 pm Sunday.
The police team also seized one each Lenovo laptop (model no G450), Xiaomi Laptop (model: XMA2006 FK), Epson Printer (model no L3100 & model no L805), Canon printer (model no G2000), Lamination machine, Biometric machine (model no FM220U-B47974929), duplicate driving licence in the name of Md Wahajuddin s/o Meheiruddin of Lilong Haoreibi Makha Leikai, two flexible blank PVC Cards, 26 Voter cards, 11 Aadhaar cards, two PAN cards, three Ayushman cards and one PMJAY card by observing formalities.
During the spot enquiry, Altab Hussain disclosed that he in collusion with Isha Ahamed made fake documents with his laptops.
Accordingly, both of them were arrested by observing formalities.
Lilong PS has registered a suo-motu case under FIR No 08(02)2025 LIL-PS u/s 318(3)/336(3)/308(3)/3(5) of BNS.
The two persons have been remanded to police custody for interrogation and further investigation is underway to nab others, if any, involved in the racket.
