Dimapur, February 03 2018:
The Core Committee of Nagaland Tribal Hohos and Civil Organizations (CCNTHCO) has accused the BJP of violating the "January 29 Declaration" in connection with the Nagaland Assembly election, thereby putting the Indo-Naga peace talks in "serious jeopardy" .
The CCNTHCO was reacting to the decision of the BJP to participate in the ensuing Assembly election of Nagaland.
The CCNTHCO said that it was the BJP which violated the letter and spirit of the "January 29 Declaration, creating not only chaos and confusion in the State but putting in serious jeopardy the ongoing talks between the Government of India and the negotiation groups" .
According to the CCNTHCO, it is for the Naga people to judge who cast the first stone against Naga aspirations despite the outward expression of sympathy for Naga solution.
According to the CCNTHCO, on January 29, altogether 11 political parties, namely, UNDP, NPF, BJP (Nagaland unit), INC (Nagaland unit), NPP (Nagaland unit), Nagaland Congress, NDPP, NCP (Nagaland unit), Lok Jan Shakti Party (Nagaland unit), AAP (Nagaland unit), and Nagaland unit of JD(U), in the presence of the "apex Naga tribal hohos" and civil society organisations and the Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs), namely, the NSCN (IM) and the six NNPGs Working Committee, made a joint declaration supporting the "Solution, Not Election" demand.
The CCNTHCO reminded the political parties that they are obligated to honour the "January 29 Declaration" which was signed in the presence of apex Naga tribe hohos and civil society organisations.
"Once again, the Naga people are reminded that the CCNTHCO comprising of tribe hohos and civil society organisations took the initiative to spear-head the call of 'Solution before Election' after the August house of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly passed the aforementioned resolution on December 15, 2017," the CCNTHCO said today.
While appealing to all political parties and candidates to respect the "aspiration" of the Naga people, the CCNTHCO said it will not use force to come in the way of any individual's conscious decision to exercise one's choice in the larger interest of the people.
"The CCNTHCO representing concerned citizens desirous for peace in the land would like to appeal to all the Naga Churches to pray for an early Naga political solution this Sunday, that is, February 4, 2018", it appealed.
