PREPAK (Pro) cadres held, weapons recovered

Imphal, July 31 2024: Security forces recovered several weapons including bombs from different places on Tuesday, besides rounding up three cadres of the proscribed PREPAK (Pro).

According to a press release issued by Manipur Police Control Room on Tuesday, security forces conducted search operation at Tekcham Maning Ching in Thoubal district and recovered one each sniper rifle with scope, Bolt rifle, stun grenade, LR stun shell, stinger cartridge, LR smoke shell, tear smoke grenade, one Baofend radio set, tear gas grenade and 9mm pistol with magazine, apart from six 36-HE hand grenades, six detonators, 36 rounds, and three dye marker grenades.

Meanwhile, a team of Manipur Police arrested three cadres of the proscribed PREPAK (Pro) from Chingmeirong Maning Leikai Nepali Basti in Imphal West District on Tuesday.

The three cadres have been identified as Wangkhem Rohit Singh (25), Yensembam Nepolian Singh (27) and Suraj Ayam (20).Police recovered three mobile phones, a two-wheeler and other incriminating articles from their possession, said the release, adding that all three were involved in extortion activities.

On the other hand, a combined team of Noney district police and CRPF conducted search operation at Khumji Bazar under Noney police station from 8am till 9.30 am on Wednesday during which 42 houses were searched and 52 people verified.

However, there were no reports of any arrests made or recovery of weapons.
