Dr Lorho advises district officials to work diligently

Outer Manipur Lok Sabha MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze on Thursday convened a District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting for Tamenglong and Noney districts at Hotel Classic Grande, here.
During the meeting, the Lok Sabha MP reviewed the progress of various centrally-sponsored schemes and programmes for 2020-2021, 2021-2022 and 2022-2023.Speaking at the review meeting, Pawan Yadav, deputy commissioner Tamenglong, informed that the main purpose for holding the DISHA meeting was to analyse and assess the work progress of the schemes carried out by officials assigned for Tamenglong and Noney districts.
The Tamenglong DC also sought the attention of MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze to some grievances related to roads, power and communication.
Transaction of money related to the MGNERGS and PMAY-G and shortages of banks in Khoupum, Nungba and Tousem were also briefly discussed in the review meeting.
On the education sector, Dr Lorho S Pfoze stressed the importance of education and the role of teachers' in nation building.
He urged the edu cation department officials of Tamenglong and Noney districts to check and stop the culture of substitution of teachers in order to give children the best education.
On the presentation of the Rural Engineering Department (RED)'s road construction undertaken under PMGSY, the MP found it unsatisfactory and asked the RED officials to take keen interest in building a good quality roads and to complete the work projects in time.
Dr Lorho also had a brief interaction with the Social Welfare Department regarding payment and non-payment to old age pension beneficiaries, widows and differently-abled persons of Tamenglong and Noney districts.
A Social Welfare Department official also highlighted the difficulties faced by the department in identifying the beneficiaries under various social welfare schemes.
Representatives of Health Department also highlighted its various achievements and works including outreach programmes taken up in different parts of Tamenglong district.
Lack of equipment and frequent transfer of doctors were also discussed during the review meeting.
The main agenda discussed briefly covered the Mahatma Gandhi National Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNERGS), Pradhan Mantri Awaaz Yojana - Grameen (PMAY-G), Education/Samagra Mid-Day Meal Scheme (MDM), Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), National Social Assistant Program (NSAP), Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RSVY), Power Department (MSPDCOL), NRDWP, Jal Jeevan Mission and SBM, National Health Mission, National Food Security/PMUY, and Minor Irrigation.
Shortage of staff and vehicles and accommodation problem were highlighted by most of the department during officials during the review meeting.
Due to the landslides in Tupul, Tamenglong MLA, Tamei Tousem MLA, Nungba MLA and DC of Noney could not attend the DISHA meeting.
