Souvenir on 82nd Nupilan 2021 released

The 82nd Nupilan Observation Committee under the guidance of Protection and Preservation Committee Manipur (PPCM) released a souvenir in connection with the 82nd observance of Nupilan 2021 at the office premises of PPCM, Waheng-bam Leikai, here on Monday.
Poirei Leimaro Meira Paibi Apunba Lup president Longjam Memchoubi, Nupi Samaj president Thokchom Ramani and PPCM convener Maibam Bisheshwar attended the release function as presidium members in the presence of .representatives of different CSOs.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramani expressed concern over the nature of women in the present society, stating that many of them have lost their sense of social responsibility.
She also spoke at length on the history of Nupilan as well as Meira Paibi movement in the state and their fight against AFSPA, security excesses and social justice.
Commutes convener Lourembam Nganbi also recalled the role played by women in Manipuri society and how they scripted history with their sheer courage in every aspect of life including fighting injustice and contributing to the economy of the society.
She also hailed the role of Manipuri princess Kuranganayani, who protected the Ahom kingdom, and the courage of Leima Lingthoingambi.
She also recounted the heroic fight of Manipuri women against the British, which later came to be known as Nupilan in the history of Manipur.
She then called upon the people of the state, especially the women population, to take a united stand for social justice, peace and prosperity in the state.
