SHRI receives 'WSO-Angels Diamond' award

Adding another feather in its cap, Shija Hospitals & Research Institute (SHRI) Pvt Ltd has been awarded the prestigious WSO-Angels Award Diamond Status for Q2 2024 by the World Stroke Organisation (WSO) in recognition of its excellence in stroke care.
Presented at the 16th World Stroke Congress held from October 23 to 26 in Abu Dhabi, UAE, the award marks Shija Hospitals as a leading stroke-care facility and the only hospital in Manipur to achieve this top-tier recognition from the WSO's Angels Initiative, according to a statement issued by the hospital.
The Angels Initiative, a global programme supported by WSO, ESO (European Stroke Organisation), and various national health organisations, aims to improve stroke care by establishing more capable stroke-ready centres worldwide.
Shija Hospitals has distinguished itself as Manipur's first stroke-ready hospital, boasting an 18-bedded neuro-ICU and a 27-bedded neuro-ward.
A team of specialists, including a neurologist, neurosurgeon, neuro-interventional radiologist, psychiatrist, clinical psychologist, and physiotherapist, ensures that Shija Hospitals provides comprehensive and high-quality stroke care, the statement informed.
It further stated that the hospital's emergency department is fully equipped for early stroke management, offering thrombolysis treatment to minimise stroke damage when time is of the essence.
Shija Hospitals has consistently upheld high standards through initiatives like the RES-Q Stroke Care Quality Registry and other evidence-based protocols.
Since 2003, it has performed over 5,200 brain surgeries, and the Government of Manipur has designated it as a referral centre for advanced neurosurgical treatment.
Notable procedures at Shija Hospitals include brain aneurysm clipping and coiling, mechanical thrombectomy, carotid angioplasty, and brain AVM embolisation.
In Q3, the hospital demonstrated its ongoing dedication to stroke care by submitting data on 30 stroke cases, underscoring its commitment to best practices in stroke treatment and prevention.
