Uchiwa denizens rues sluggish Bailey bridge job

Kakching, December 27 2024: Local meira paibi, clubs and people of Uchiwa urged authority concerned to expedite the completion of the Bailey bridge constructed over the Imphal River at Uchiwa, which has been under construction since 2021 .

The Bailey bridge is being constructed as a component of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana under Ministry of Rural Development, connecting Mayang Imphal and Wabagai assembly constituencies.

A public meeting was convened in this regard on Friday, highlighting that people are facing inconveniences in crossing the creaky suspension bridge, which is nearby the Bailey bridge.

It reminded that several appeals were made to the Department SO, engineer and contractor for completing the bridge, but their demand is yet to be fulfilled.

It further demanded authorities concerned to complete constructing the Bailey bridge at the earliest.
