Imphal, September 26 2021:
Janata Dal (United) Manipur Unit president Hangkhanpao Taithul has urged chief minster N Biren to transfer the home portfolio to one of his trusted minister as he seems to be overwhelmed by overseeing every department as head of the state.
Speaking at a press meet held at JD (U) office at Hatta on Sunday, Hangkhanpao Taithul condemned the abduction and killing of Athuan Abonmai right in front of security personnel deployed for the 'Go to Hills' programme attended by CM at Tamenglong town.
Security is highly tightened for any place including Tamenglong whenever a chief minister visits.
So, it is very unfortunate that amid such heavy security arrangement, Abonmai was kidnapped in broad daylight while police remained as muted spectator, he observed.
Hangkhanpao continued that when a security force cannot protect the citizens then it has no use.
Therefore, it's not that the chief minister knowingly allowed the incident, but the CM seems to be lacking focus on security matters as he is minding various departments.
Hence, the chief minister must transfer the Home Department to one of his trusted minister, which will only raise his reputation amongst the people, he further reiterated.
