RIMS contract basis employees demand 50% DA

Non-Teaching Employees' Welfare Association (NTEWA) on Wednesday organised a sit-in protest in front of Jubilee Hall, RIMS demanding 50% Dearness Allowance (DA) for the contract basis employees who have been working for more than ten years at the Government hospital.
During the protest, NTEWA secretary Jiban said that a total of 285 employees ranging from grade IV to officers have been working for more than ten years on contract basis at RIMS.
Many have retired while some of them are no more, added Jiban while claiming that these employees had never got any benefit or allowances for their services.
The employees get basic salary of rupees 5,200 while their Dearness Allowance (DA) of 50%, the facility that has been provided from time to time, has been denied.
Recommendations have been submitted to the RIMS Director before two months regarding the matter, but he has not responded till now, said Jiban.
Moreover, it has been report that order has been issued to recruit new employees while these contract employees are still working at the hospital, Jiban said and appealed to the authorities to fill up the vacancy posts from the contract employees.
