Minister Nemcha distributes loom to beneficiaries

Kangpokpi, June 25 2022:
Textiles, Commerce and Industry and Cooperation minister Nemcha Kipgen distributed loom to 40 beneficiaries under Loom Up-gradation Scheme 2021-2022 at Kangpokpi.
The distribution was organised by District Handlooms and Textiles, Kangpokpi with an aim to enhance production of handloom products, promote the same in the international market and create financial sustenance for the weavers.
Speaking at the programme, also attended by District Handlooms and Textiles project manager L Dasumati and supervisor Wonsingla, minister Nemcha Kipgen expressed dissatisfaction that Kangpokpi Cluster of Handloom and Textiles has not been able to make much progress in-spite of being one the first established in the northeast in 2013."However, with the new Project Manager, I am confident that it will progress well and serve its purpose", she said and revealed that all beneficiaries will be geo-tagged and if any beneficiary is found selling the loom, stringent action will be taken including arrest and imprisonment.
The minister encouraged the beneficiaries to sincerely and actively participate in the training and assured that all necessary requirements will be provided by the department concerned.
The minister further said that beneficiaries need no more worry about their products as the handloom and textiles products can now be sold online on Amazon and motivated the weavers to give their best.
