Not right time for delimitation: FIDAM

Federation of Indigenous People's Democratic Movement (FIDAM) has stated that the time is not right to hold the delimitation exercise in the state, citing the prevailing situation and the issue of illegal immigration.
Presiding over the first foundation day of FIDAM held at Langol Game Village Zone-1 on Monday, its president Wahengbam Shanta Meitei said that the state is currently facing a huge issue with the influx of illegal immigrants and, as such, the delimitation should be carried out only after the National Register of Citizens (NRC) is implemented and the illegal immigrants identified and deported.
He highlighted that FIDAM's main objective is to see to the recognition of Sanamahism as a "minority religion" under the Constitution of India and affirmed that the Federation would continue to pursue the same.
The foundation day was also attended by Sana Konung 'Angom Ningthou' Angom Poireiton as chief guest, while social activist Sapamcha Kangleipak Federation of Haomee president Sapamcha Jadumani, Langol Zone-1 Meira Paibi president Thoudam Omi and social activist Dr Haobijam Gitajen were the guests of honour.
