Bomb blast, arson at UCM office and Macha Leima School condemned

Student bodies and organisations have strongly condemned the bomb blast at Dhanamanjuri University (DMU) campus, arson at the office of United Committee Manipur (UCM) and Macha Leima School on Friday night.
In separate releases, Students' Union of Kangleipak, Apunba Ireipakki Maheiroi Sinpanglup (AIMS), Manipur Youth and Students' Union (MYSU), Universal Mother's Organisation (UMO) and Thoubal Am-sung Kakching District Apunba Lup (TAKDAL) strongly denounced bomb blast at the head office of a student body located at DMU campus wherein a student identified as Oinam Kenegy succumbed to injuries and another student sustained injuries.
They also condemned setting fire at Macha Leima School located in Palace Compound by unknown miscreants.
Such attack and intimidation on students and educational institutes, which are temples for learning, should not be repeated by any group or individual in future, they said.
They also denounced the act of arson committed at the office of UCM located in Lamphel as well as the assault on a media person by unidentified miscreants.
While appealing to the government to take up necessary initiatives for preventing occurrence of such acts in future, they demanded identification and punishment of the involved wrong doers.
The releases further stated that every problem can be settled through dialogues and such incidents amidst the prevailing ethnic conflict that broke out since May 3 was very unfortunate.
They condoled the demise of the student who succumbed to injuries in the bomb blast and also shared pain of the bereaved family.
