Chonghang Union president no more, many condole

Chonghang Union (CHU) president Thangkhotung Hangshing, popularly known as Patung Hangshing, who is also a prominent Kuki Chief of Khunkho Kuki village passed way at around 5 am today at his residence at Khunkho Kuki village in Kangpokpi District.
The village chief (82) is survived by five sons and two daughters.
The funeral service of the deceased will be performed at Khunkho Kuki village cemetery tomorrow.
Born in the year 1936, the deceased CHU president became the Chief of Khunkho Kuki village in the year 1970 after he founded Leimakhong Bazar Board and served as the Vice Chairman for almost 10 years (1968 to 1978) .
He also served as president of Leimakhong Area Chief Organization from 1988 to 2014, Chairman Khunkho Kuki BYF (1958), Pastor, Khunkho Kuki Christian Church (1968), Secretary, Khunkho Kuki Christian Church (1980-81) and KCU Executive Member (1996-97) apart from serving as President of Chonghang Union since 1989 .
Meanwhile, Chonghang Union (CHU) and Chonghang Youth Organization (CHYO) expressed its deepest condolence on behalf of all Chonghang kins across Manipur, India and abroad over the demise of its president.
The condolence message issued by CHU general secretary, Lenkhomang Chongloi and CHYO president, Amang Chongloi said that Patung Hangshing was not only a president or chief but the father of all Chonghang kins, who tireless worked for the welfare and unity of Chonghang kins.
