Imphal, September 22 2013:
As done in previous years, on the occasion of National Cancer Rose Day observance today, the Department of Immunohaematology and Blood Transfusion under the initiative of Director of RIMS provided 36 units to the cancer patients of RIMS Hospital free of replacement and service charges.
This department has been supplying blood and components to the needy patients who have no replacement donors or multiply transfused patients free of replacements.
Recently, as part of the 'Non-replacement month programme' of the State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC) Manipur, beginning from June 16, the department has supplied a total of 1008 blood and component units to the needy patients free of replacement.
The credit for this service of saving lives goes to the altruistic act of many voluntary blood donors of the state who donated blood selflessly for the cause of saving lives.
The Director RIMS and Department of IHBT, RIMS, on the occasion of the National Cancer Rose Day 2013 wished speedy recovery to the cancer patients of this state and heartily appreciate and thank the voluntary blood donors.
