All PRIs to participate in 'zero hunger' webinar

Imphal, August 21 2021: The state government has taken up steps to ensure participation of all Panchayati Raj Institutions in the state in the national webinar on localisation of sustainable development goals and role of panchayat - Goal No 2 - Zero Hunger' to be hosted by Ministry of Panchayati Raj on Monday.

The webinar is being organised as part of the Modi government's Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav campaign and RD&PR department has issued instructions to all gram panchayats to attend the webinar without fail.

Union minister for panchayati raj Giriraj will inaugurate the webinar in the presence of union MoS for panchayati raj Kapil Moreshwar Patil.

State's RD&PR minister Th Biswajit and top officials of the department will also attend the webinar, which will discuss the strategies to achieve the target of hunger free panchayat by 2030.The webinar will discuss issues such as improving food production capacity, food security, sustainable agricultural production, public distribution, minimisation of food processing loss, nutritional security and technological solutions.

There will be four sessions.

Representatives of World Food Programme, UNDP, principal scientific advisors of different ministries such as agriculture, food and public distribution, and food processing industries will also speak at the webinar.

One can also watch live streaming of the webinar through NIC VC Studio and Webex Meeting.
