MLA assures potable water to Henglep denizens

Henglep MLA Letzamang Haokip on Friday convened a meeting to discuss issues related to implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) in Henglep area.
The meeting held at B Vengnom community hall, here, was participated by representatives of various chief associations under Henglep constituency, EE/PHED, AE/PHED, SO/PHED, con tractors and sub-contractors.
The meeting discussed the grievances raised by Kuki Chiefs' Association, Churachandpur over the JJM Water Scheme implementation.
During the meeting, MLA Letzamang stated that Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) launched by the Union government under the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is aimed at providing safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections by 2024 to all households in rural India.
The scheme envisions availability of drinking water in every household, to improve the health and socio-economic conditions of the rural population which will also bring down the drudgery of rural women and girls, he added.
The MLA noted that complaints and reports have been received from chiefs association of Henglep and Kuki Chiefs Association (KCA), Churachandpur, regarding inefficiency of JJM implementation.
Reiterating that accessibility Co portable drinking water by every household is one of his and state government's priorities, Letzamang Haokip said that he took the complaint raised by the chief bodies very seriously arid the meeting was convened to address the grievances of the people of Henglep by directly interacting with AE, EE, SO, contractors and village chiefs.
He then asked contractors, EE, AE, SO and chiefs to implement the mission diligently and warned corrupt contractors of stringent action including backlisting of any defaulter contractors.
While assuring to leave nd stone unturned in providing potable drinking water to every during his tenure, MLA Letzamang made an ardent appeal for cooperation and support from EE, AE, SO, contractors, chiefs to realise this dream.
In the meeting, more than 60 chiefs participated, apart from contractors and sub-contractors.
Participating chiefs raised �their grievances and sought remedial measures from SO, EE, AE for successful implementation of the JJM scheme.
