Noney WhatsApp group joins battle against COVID-19

Noney, May 20 2021:
Apart from the government, many individuals and philanthropic organisations are joining hands in the battle against COVID-19.Under the initiative of Rongmei Naga Students' Organisation Manipur (RNSOM) president Daichui Gangmei, an online donation drive was conducted through a WhatsApp group called 'Building Noney District' to procure oxygen concentrators/cylinders and other basic requirements of the COVID warriors.
In the last four days, the group could collect Rs 3 lakh contributed/donated by philanthropic civil organisations, individuals and district level officers of Noney.
In support of the works being done by the district administration and District Health Society, team leaders of 'Building Noney District' handed over the procured essential equipment/items to Noney DC Robert Singh Kshetrimayum.
The first phase items include 300 pieces of N95 Mask with filter, 300 nursing head gears (Caps), 80 face shields, 25 litres of Sodium Hypochlorite, 25 litres of hand sanitiser and 1600 surgical gloves.
Speaking to media persons, Daichui Gangmei, who led the team, said that the team is planning to procure five oxygen concentrators and 10 oxygen cylinders for the public healthcare centres in the second phase.
He appealed to the general public of Noney district to come forward and contribute their mite in the battle against COVID-19.He also appealed to the state government to install oxygen generating plant in Noney district along NH-37 for the COVID related patients simultaneously that will help better health facility in any casualty that will create a millstone along the second life line of Manipur.
