Youth should work for better future: MLA Shyam

Langthabal AC MLA Karam Shyam has exhorted the youth to work towards building a better future for themselves and the society.
He was speaking during a felicitation function of the winners of 52nd Short Play Competition for Creative Directors- 2021 and recipients of international awards in theatre, organised by Theatre Centre Manipur at Manipur Dramatic Union (MDU), Yaiskul Police Lane here on Wednesday.
Speaking as chief guest of the function, Karam Shyam informed that he had never rejected anything concerning art and culture of the State, as the people associated with this field are helping to bring both international and domestic recognition and glory to the state.
He then assured to urge the minister concerned and the present BJP government to enhance budgetary allocation for this field.
This is purely for the good of the artistes, he contended.
Regarding the commemoration of famed poet Dr Kamal, the MLA assured that he would be fulfilling his pre-poll promise of adding a floor to DR Kamal memorial complex located at Langthabal Kunja, to facilitate writers or theatre artistes in holding workshop or other programmes.
The function was also attended by Manipur Dramatic Union president Soraisham Keshoram and Theatre Centre Manipur president Wareppa Naba as presidium members.
As part of the function, Sa mata Sahitya Academi's Best Theatre Activist and Lifetime Achievement International Award recipients Sarungbam Biren and Senjam Nimai were honoured with simple gifts.
Regarding the 52nd Short Play Competition For Creative Directors 2021, the Best Production award was presented to Paradise Theatre, Wangkhei for 'Huranbagi Leibakta Huranbagi Macha'; Best Director to Paradise Theatre director G Imomacha Sharma; Best Script to Paradise Theatre writer Kshetri Sanajaoba for 'Huranbagi Leibakta Huranbagi Macha'; Best Actor to Paradise Theatre artiste Kh Jilanganba; and Best Female Actor to Yumjao Lairembi Dramatic and Cultural Union, Khagempalli artiste Rk Romilla.
The winners in other categories were also presented with cash awards and certificates.
