To a query, Dr.Namjupou Panmei said that in the last IPPI campaign in 2013, as many as 270 booths were opened and 16680 children below at the age of five years were targeted but only 16200 children could be covered.
The reason for missing the target target was due to negligence of the the public as the campaign has been ongoing on for the last 20 years.
"As there have been no new polio cases in the district, people have also ignored the campaign.
This might be the last campaign, so all of us should join hands together to ensure that Polio is eradicated not only from Tamenglong district alone but from the entire country,", Dr Namjupou Panmei said.
In the IPPI campaign today, 13 Assam Rifles also opened one booth at the common ground of Tamenglong Mini Stadium where many children were offered Pulse Polio drops.
