Imphal, July 17 2024:
Demanding resumption of work for repairing the pothole dotted Imphal-Yairipok road especially from Kongba bridge to Keirao Salam, All Kongba Road United Clubs' Organisation (AKRUCO) has cautioned of enforcing indefinite road block from July 19 if repair work is not started.
In a release, co-convenor Seram Surjit Singh recalled that AKRUCO met CM N Biren and works minister Govindas Konthoujam demanding completion of repairing the said road stretch before onset of monsoon which the government authorities upheld.
However, considering the lethargic pace, representatives of the organisation apprised PWD chief engineer to accelerate the repair work and construct drain wherever required, he recalled.
Regardless of approaching and appealing authorities concerned, the repair work was put on hold forcing AKRUCO to meet Imphal East EE on May 14 to exert pressure for resuming the work, Surjit said while demanding the contractor concerned to clarify reason for halting the work.
On June 6, the representatives re-approached minister Govindas but the latter's assurance to expedite the same has not been translated into action, elaborated the co-convenor while reiterated that the said road would be blocked indefinitely from July 19 midnight if authorities do not honour its demand.
