ASAK suffers another blow as five more cadres land in police net

In another major blow to Achik Songna Anchakpagipa Kotok (ASAK) outfit, the North Garo Hills police apprehended 5 cadres of the outfit from North Garo Hills (NGH) district.
The five were on their way to the border of Assam to buy arms and ammunition for the outfit and were apprehended from Soksan, about 3 km from Mendhipathar, about a 100 km from the town of Tura.
"We apprehended them at about 1:20 am in the morning today, when they were travelling in a Maruti car to go to the Assam border to buy guns.
They had Rs 1 lakh 40 thousand with them in hand.
Our team apprehended the five based on very specific information of their movements," said the Superintendent of Police (SP), NGH, Jerry Marak while adding that the 5 confessed to being a part of the outfit, even as identification cards of the outfit were found on them.
"During interrogation they said they were on their way to buy ammunition for AKs and 9mm pistols.
We however, missed the carriers who they were going to as they had fled before we could apprehend them," the police officer said.
The arrested cadres are - Doma Momin (26) alias John, Rakesh Marak (27) alias Laket, Salbong M Sangma (30), Thailand Marak (34) alias Thaiol and Onimesh Sangma (40).The police have also found identification cards, incriminating documents as well as money on the five of them.
