KZW-EZ is fake : Police

Imphal, May 15 2025: The Manipur Police have stated they've investigated the Kuki Zo Village Volunteers-Eastern Zone (KZW-EZ) and found that the organisation does not exist.

The KZW-EZ had warned Meiteis not to cross or pass through 'Kukiland' during the Shirui Lily Festival.

A bulletin issued by the Police Control Room (PCR) late last night noted that a press communique from KZW-EZ, warning Meiteis against entering Kuki-inhabited areas during the Shirui Festival, was circulated on social media and local newspapers.

The police, having found no evidence of the organization's existence, appealed to the public to disregard the "unfounded and baseless press note" allegedly issued by the unknown organization.

The PCR also said that the district police will make adequate security arrangements to ensure and facilitate free movement of public for the Shirui Lily Festival.

Meanwhile, security forces arrested a self-styled sergeant major of CKLA/UPLF (non SoO group) from Saikot Village under Churachandpur police station on May 13, the PCR said.

The arrested person has been identified as David Ngamjang (25) of M Tatjang Village, Sugnu currently staying at Zouveng, Churachandpur.

One 9 mm pistol and three live rounds were seized from his possession.

According to the bulletin, several cadres from other banned outfits were also arrested on May 13 and 14, and a cache of weapons was seized during these operations.
