Nagaland minister bats for peace in Manipur

Nagaland tourism minister Temjen Imna Along called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey on Thursday at Raj Bhavan, here, and discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to solving the on-going impasse between two communities for restoration of peace and tranquillity in Manipur.
During the meeting, minister Along advocated the need to restore mutual understanding and trust among the communities so that a conducive atmosphere for talks would be made.
The minister stressed the need to focus on humanitarian aspects of the people of both communities taking shelter in relief camps while also expressing appreciation to efforts made by the Governor for restoration of peace and normalcy in the state.
The Governor said that to mend the gap and trust deficit between two communities and initiating dialogue process would be the only means to solve the on-going impasse.
The centre and the state government have been trying best to ensure a viable environment so that both the warring communities can sit together and resolve all impending issues.
On the other hand, a team of NABARD led by its DGM Bendang Aier along with two managers called on the Governor and requested to release State Focus paper 2024-25, at her convenient time and date.
The team informed the Governor about their initiatives taken up for the welfare of people especially for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who have been staying in different relief camps in the state.
They also highlighted the uninterrupted banking services rendered to the public despite facing risk of looting and burglary of the banks.
The team conveyed to the Governor that Self-Help Groups and Farmers Producers Organisation (FPO) have been formed by NABARD while financial literacy campaigns, skill training programmes like crafting, plastic moulding, etc., have been launched for IDPs in relief camps in Churachandpur and Imphal West districts respectively.
The Governor appreciated their efforts and asked to extend their services in the best interest of the people especially the IDPs in the state.
