A one-day seminar on "tribal communities' access to public healthcare services", coupled with a health awareness camp, was held on Friday at Gangluan Part-IV (Pinjang) village, Noney district, as part of Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas.
The programme organised by Tribal Research Institute (TRI), TA & H, Manipur, was aimed at promoting health education and awareness within the tribal community.
John Gaidingam Dangmei, RO/AO of TRI, underscored the importance of prioritising health and encouraged the community to overcome the tendency to neglect their well-being.
"Health is wealth, and by prioritising our well-being, we can lead happier, more productive lives," he remarked.
Dr Z Kamei, CMO Noney, issued a crucial advisory against self-medication, emphasising that one should never self-medicate without consulting a doctor while Dr Sangamlung Kamei highlighted the risks associated with tobacco usage, noting the absence of any medical evidence supporting its benefits.
Meanwhile, Hannah Kahmei, director TA & Hills, expressed gratitude to the local community for their cooperation and encouraged continued support for future initiatives.
The health awareness camp was conducted in the presence of Hannah Kahmei, Dr Shangamlung Kamei, DNO NTCP Noney, Dr Lungthaolung Gonmei, MO PHC Khoupum, and other healthcare professionals.
