3rd National Lok Adalat held across state

As per the calendar programme of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MALSA) in association with High Court Legal Services Committee and district legal services authorities organised the 3rd National Lok Adalat for the year, 2022 on Saturday at various locations across the state.
In a release, MALSA member secretary Ojesh Mutum informed that the National Lok Adalat for Imphal East and West districts was jointly organised by it in association with Imphal East & Imphal West District Legal Services Authorities at Lamphel Court Complex.
National Lok Adalat was also held in Bishnupur, Thoubal, Ukhrul, Senapati, Churachandpur, Chandel, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal and Jiribam districts and in the High Court of Manipur.
Cases relating to bank recovery, civil disputes, family matters (except divorce), insurance matters, domestic violence cases, BSNL bill cases, NI Act (cheque bouncing cases) were put up in the National Lok Adalat, the member secretary said.
The release further informed that a total of 337 cases were taken up out of which 244 were settled.
They included 21 cases pending in the courts.
The total settled amount in the National Lok Adalat held on Saturday was Rs 2,18,08,206.High Court of Manipur judge justice MV Muralidaran, which is also MALSA executive chairman, visited the National Lok Adalat held at Thoubal Court Complex for the districts of Thoubal & Kakching, and later at Lamphel Court Complex and interacted with the presiding officers/members of Lok Adalat bench and members of bar, the secretary informed.
In Senapati district, cases put up during the National Lok Adalat held at the District & Sessions court complex were perused in two benches with the first dealing in pre-litigation, bank cases and other civil cases headed by DLSA, Senapati chairman N Keertichand Singh, advocate S Pfokrelo Thomas and Komuo Adani Mao while the second bench for pending court cases was headed by DLSA Senapati secretary Margaret Niangsiamkim, DLSA Senapati retainer lawyer S Marysena and advocate Kapani Athini Victoria as members.
In all, 22 pre-litigation bank cases were taken up in Bench No 1, out of which 20 cases were settled with a settlement amounting to Rs 8,92,862 and two pre-litigation criminal compoundable cases were settled in National Lok Adalat under the assistance of Senapati SP Karthik Malladi.
In Bench No 2, 15 pending court cases were taken up, out of which one pending
court case was settled.
