Money-for-job complaint: RIMS vows action

With reference to a complaint received against one Maibam Ningol Loitongbam (Ongbi) Somi Devi, wife of Loitongbam Johnson Singh of Lalambung Takhellambam Leikai, that she collected Rs 52,40,000 from 21 individuals with the assurance of securing their jobs at RIMS, Imphal in various posts like attendant, mali, driver, nurse, chowkidar, etc., the institute has clarified that the incumbent director has no knowledge about the case.
According to a release issued by RIMS Media Cell, as per the records available at RIMS, Somi Devi, who was working as lab attendant (contract) at the Department of Microbiology, was on December, 2022 terminated from service based on an enquiry report confirming her involvement in a similar case of collecting Rs 2 lakh from an individual with the promise of enrolment at RIMS.
According to the release, RIMS authority remains steadfast in maintaining transparency, integrity and ethical standards in all employment-related matters and advised the public to be cautious of fraudulent job offers and individuals misusing the names of officials for personal gain.
The RIMS authority is initiating necessary legal actions on the present complaint, the release added.
"For any information related to recruitment at RIMS, we advise the public to consult the official RIMS website, where all advertisements and job opportunities are clearly listed.
Any suspicious activities or fraudulent offers should be reported immediately to the appropriate authorities," the release stressed.
