Imphal, December 10 2021:
The state government has been urged to find the truth behind the suspicious injury suffered by IRB jawan Yumnam Sanjit (38) of Tendongyang Maning Leikai who was posted as house guard of Saikul MLA Yamthong Haokip.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here on Friday, Sanjit's elder brother Puyam Surchandra informed that he (Sanjit) is undergoing treatment at Raj Medicity Hospital after suffering serious injuries.
Even after requesting for registering an FIR on the case, the police have not done so.
If by Saturday, the authorities concerned do not take any action then agitation would be launched with the support of civil societies, he cautioned.
Surchandra mentioned that Y Sanjit along with five other personnel are posted as house guard of MLA Yamthong Haokip.
On December 5 around 7:55 pm, his family members were informed that Sanjit has been taken to Raj Medicity after he fell down and sustained grievously injuries.
Inspite of undergoing head surgery immediately, Sanjit remains in a critical condition with doctors advising the family to take him home with the explanation that no further treatment will help him recover.
Despite seriousness of Sanjit's condition, neither MLA Yamthong nor the house guards who brought him to the hospital could be contacted.
When asked how the injury happened, one of the guards contended that Sanjit fell on a chicken coop while another said he hit a wall, he Surchandra maintained.
He lamented that they tried to file an FIR at Saikul police station with regard to the incident, but was not entertained.
The family also filed a complaint to the 4 IRB headquarters at Nilakuthi but nothing has been done.
He also questioned how guards were posted at MLA Yamthong Haokip's residence when he is presently staying at MLA quarter at Imphal.
The MLA remaining silent even when a guard posted at his house has been seriously injured is very unfortunate.
A complaint has been lodged to the chief minister and authorities concerned in this regard, he disclosed.
Surchandra further cautioned that the authorities concerned should take necessary action by Saturday and investigate the matter to punish the culprits to avert possible public uprising.
