Imphal, September 10 2024:
Retired Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR) Lt Gen Pradeep Chandran Nair's comments to a national media regarding the violence in Manipur could be construed as confirmation of the unholy nexus between the Assam Rifles and the Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists to break apart Manipur, claimed Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI) .
Lies being spread about the crisis by vested-interest persons like PC Nair to the people of Manipur and the world cannot be taken lightly, the COCOMI said in a statement.
With reference to News9 Live broadcasting an exclusive interview some days back wherein Lt Gen Pradeep Chandran Nair asserted that Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists had nothing to do with aerial bombing or firing long range rocket on Meetei villages, COCOMI alleged that such a statement not only exposed complicity of the para-military force in the conflict but also proved beyond doubt nexus between the Assam Rifles and Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists to disintegrate Manipur by attacking the Meetei community.
Manipur IGPs K Kabib and K Jayenta had made clear during a press conference on September 8 that Kuki militants used drones to drop bombs on Koutruk village in Imphal West district which left some personnel of state force and civilians injured.
After two days of drone attacks at Koutruk and nearby villages in Imphal West district, Chin-Kuki narco-Jterrorists fired long-range rockets towards Meetei villages on September 6 with the first landing at Tronglaobi village in Bishnupur district in early morning though no one was injured, and the second rocket fired the same day hit a Moirang residence and killed an elderly man besides causing injuries to five civilians.
On the same evening, many rockets were fired towards Tronglaobi village, the COCOMI said and further contended that Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists attacked Meetei villages due to their nexus with the Assam Rifles.
Since May 3, 2023, many Meetei villagers have been killed and hundreds of houses either torched or destroyed by Chin-Kuki narco-terrorists as AR supported them and allowed free movement whereas movement of Meitei people were restricted.
In view of such incidents, COCOMI and people of Manipur have been demanding to the Centre to remove AR.
However, the Centre remains silent till date with protracted inaction making it crystal clear with each passing day that the Centre is orchestrating proxy war in Manipur, COCOMI said.
