Imphal, September 10 2021:
The Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manjpur & Nagaland) has clarified that the opinions expressed by its former president and present advisor Athuan Abonmai in various discussion panels of local media are his opinion alone and not of the whole community.
A release by Baudi president K Akhang stated that the views and comments of Athuan on sensitive social and political issues do not relate or bind the Zeliangrong Baudi or Zeliangrong people, but is only his opinion.
"Unlike any other tribes, Zeliangrong is a big community dwelling in three states therefore the opinion or view of an individual is not valid to construe as carrying or represent the opinion or view of the entire community," clarified the president.
Akhang also charged Athuan Abonmai of being naive about his position as an advisor stating that designation is purely honorary and does not empower any executive power, responsibilities and obligation to act independently without consulting the incumbent executives.
"There is no role and power for an advisor of any organisations to speak or express on behalf of the organisation and its people until and unless authorised by the existing and incumbent executives.
Till today the incumbent Baudi (Assam, Manipur &Nagaland) neither authorises or empowered Athuan Abonmai to speak the opinion and view or represent the Baudi in any platform nor to participate in any media platform," the statement continued.
The release also noted that the Zeliangrong body is compelled to issue the clarification for general public information as his participation in media platforms are quite frequent and worrying for further misleading the community and Manipur society as a whole.
It also added that the Zeliangrong Baudi had already warned him with a "Caution Letter" in the recent past to be more cautious and not to misuse the position of an advisor.
