NRFM imposes general strike on August 15

Imphal, August 10 2024: The armed outfit, National Revolutionary Front Manipur (NRFM) has called a general strike on August 15 effective from 12 am to 5 pm and appealed to people not to take part any event relating to India's Independence Day celebration on the day.

The outfit, however, said that the general strike on August 15 will not cover movement relating to medicine, religious ceremonies, emergency and media but no government and private institutions should open on the day.

August 15 should be day for every citizen of Manipur to think about how they are living under Indian administration, a statement of NRFM said and appealed to people not to raise any tricolour on this day.

The people of Manipur are living as if dead inside the cage of colonial administration and gradually being converted as outsiders in their own land while the boundary of Manipur protected by blood of brave forefathers of the land is now under serious threat.

This has necessitated the outfit not to alter the ongoing liberation movement and cannot be compromised under any circumstances, the NRPF statement issued by its information & publicity secretary Sanajaoba Meitei said.
