Pambei-led UNLF condoles demise of its liaison officer Idom

The Pambei-led United National Liberation Front (UNLF) and its military wing, the Manipur People's Army (MPA), extended their deepest condolences and revolutionary salute at the sudden demise of liaison officer, Lieutenant Kangabam Idom alias Santosh alias Maung Naing, at a foreign base of the party on Friday.
According to a UNLF statement issued by media coordinator Chara-irongba Thokchom, Lieutenant Idom had been hospitalised for personal health issues in a hospital near the base of his posting where he was assigned party's duty outside Manipur.
As his health condition worsened and became critical, he was arranged to be transferred to another hospital.
While arranging to transfer him, he suddenly passed away at about 12.30 am Friday.
The statement further said Kangabam Idom grew up with the zeal and spirit of loving his motherland and his people.
He dedicated himself to the party from his early days.
He arrived for proper training in 2003 to join the party at the training centre.
After completing his BMT training (February 2004- April 2004), he was given service number 1780 in the 29th batch BMT of the MPA.
After training, he was posted as part of the mobile team task force of the MPA in Churachandpur, Barak and Tamenglong from September 2004 to November 2005 .
Then, he was transferred to 242 Bn in July 2006, and then to 293 Bn in February 2007 .
Later, in 2008, he was transferred to the GHQ and started working there.
He was then transferred to 241 Bn in May 2008, and to 291 Bn in 2010.From November 2011 to 2014, Idom acted as the Military Intelligence (MI) of the Army in 292 Bn.
From January 2015 to 2020 he acted as the Military Intelligence (MI) in the 241 Bn.
After that, the party posted him as the liaison officer in a base located in a foreign land for a specific task.
For his enduring sacrifices and services rendered to the party, Lt Idom received due recognition and promotion.
On February 9, 2015, he was given the rank of Sergeant by the GHQ, and on February 9, 2017, he was promoted to Sergeant Major.
Later on, Idom was promoted to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant by the MAC, and then to the rank of Lieutenant on February 9, 2021 .
Lt Kangabam Idom was bom on March 23, 1982 at Moreh Ward No 9 as the youngest of four children of (L) Kangabam Ranjan and Taruni.
Lt Kangabam Idom, as a revolutionary, was a disciplined, well-mannered and devoted comrade who performed every responsibility of the party with fervour, dedication and enthusiasm.
He exercised admirable command and controL He had a friendly nature and could mingle with everyone.
He possessed organisational skills and could prioritise and manage every task astutely.
Apart from that, he was loyal to the Army, party, masses and motherland as a dedicated MPA officer.
Lt Idom is survived by his wife and his three young children, the UNLF statement said.
