District Agriculture Fair held in Senapati

A District Agriculture Fair, 2022 for Senapati district jointly organised by Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) and District Agriculture Office was held on Tuesday at multipurpose hall, Senapati town under the theme "Organic farming" .
As chief guest of the event, Senapati deputy commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari said agricultural sector has a lot of potential for export just like horticulture department which recently exported a large quantity of pineapples outside the state.
He urged the farmers to come forward and consult with held experts regularly to enhance their crop yield.
Delivering the speech as the guest of honour, additional director (agriculture) Todinang Panmei urged the farmers in the district to plant high yielding food and cash crops, ensure possession of Soil Health Card for periodical update on status of soil health and avail the benefit of crop insurance schemes in case they suffer loss due to less yield or natural disaster.
According to Senapati district Agriculture officer, SP Lovejoy Anal, nine schemes are being implemented in the district to increase both zeal and yield of the farmers and informed that various seeds are being given free of cost and farm machinery provided at subsidised rate to the farmers.
He also urged the farmers to attend awareness programmes and camps to keep oneself updated with the latest knowledge.
As a part of the programme, farmers namely H Sania from Tadubi block, Dilip Kumar Bhrupal from Saitu block, Ph Keturah from Paomata block, Kala from Willong block and Sana Lucy from Kangpokpi block were felicitated for their efforts and achievements.
Altogether, 14 exhibition stalls were also opened showcasing farmers' produce.
In the technical session, there was an active interaction between the farmers and scientist.
