Teachers conferred 'Shiksha Samman'

Imphal, September 08 2021:
In connection with observance of International Literacy Day, Rotary Club of Imphal conferred 'Shiksha Samman' (honour) to two teachers.
During the observance function held at the Club, the two teachers namely Waikhom Leikai Upper Primary School Zone 1 headmistress in-charge Ningombam Romabati Devi and Laikon Upper Primary School Zone 2 Imphal East head master in-charge Wan-glembam Gobin were honoured with the presentation of the award.
The club presented certificate, memento, stole (Lengyan phi) and cash award to the two teachers.
Speaking at the event, Club's literacy committee chairman Dr Chourjit informed that International Literacy Day is observed on September 8 every year and the theme for this year is 'Literacy for a Human-centred Recovery: Narrowing the Digital Divide'.
Rotary Club of Imphal president Devkumar Thoudam said that it has been acknowledging the roles of teachers in shaping a society by giving respect to them and presenting gifts annually.
Despite the difficulties arising out the Covid-19 pandemic, the teachers came up with new ways to teach the students.
Such efforts of the teachers are highly appreciated, he said whilcexhorting all to get vaccinated against Covid-19 .
