Imphal, December 07 2024:
Tribal Youth Council Manipur (TYCM), General Headquarters (TYCM-GHQ), has supported the demand of the All College Tribal Students' Union, Imphal for immediate release of the pending Scheduled Tribe (ST) scholarships" .
The Manipur government has continued to neglect the tribal communities across various sectors, and the delay in disbursing ST scholarships is a clear violation of students' inherent rights, alleged TYCM-GHQ in a press release on Saturday.
The youth council lamented that key tribal institutions such as the Tribal Affairs & Hills Department, Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribes (MSCST), and Tribal Research Institute (TRI) are in a state of collapse.
"With most staff retired and only a few remaining personnel struggling to maintain operations, these institutions are unable to address the needs of the tribal population effectively," it contended.
TYCM-GHQ then called on all tribal civil society organisations to unite and raise a collective voice to pressurise the state government to address their grievances and fulfill the Charter of Demands.
"Your solidarity and support are crucial to achieving justice and equality for the tribal communities of Manipur", it reminded the tribal people and urged the relevant authorities to act promptly and disburse the pending ST scholarships.
