Imphal, September 06 2024:
Manipur Democratic Alliance (MDA) expressed firm believe that the conflict in the state will soon come to an end since the central government is now aware of the exact nature of the conflict.
In a press meet held at Shiv Sena Manipur office in Babupara on Friday, MDA convenor M Tombi said that no matter how many times the chief minister is replaced, people of Manipur will never accept the separatist demand of the Kukis.
Manipur, a once independent and sovereign kingdom with its own language, culture and territorial integrity, will never compromise in any aspect whatsoever, he contended.
Tombi opined that the central leaders are now realising the true nature of the conflict between the two communities.
Kuki organisations have been lobbying Kuki communities in modifying the age-old history of Manipur, in an at'tempt to portray Kukis as the indigenous people of the state.
However, the central government is now aware of the tactics, and as such, it would not be long before the conflict is brought to an end.
As the central government alone cannot take a decision in the matter, the state government would be sure to assist in the same, he stated.
Tombi then urged all not to try and topple the government, but instead help the government in protecting the state.
He remarked that the other side do not turn on each other compared to our side.
Informing that the Alliance would soon call on the Governor, he informed that an appointment with the prime minister would be sought with regard to the matter, and urged all to take a stand to remain united.
MDA chairman Dr Ph Jilasana Sharma said that the central government should take up the responsibility of restoring peace in the state.
However, amid this, the presence of an elected government plays a crucial role and as such, both the central government and the state government need to bring about a solution to the crisis.
The press meet was also attended by MDA co-convenor Raga Keisham.
