Imphal, December 05 2021:
While noting that chief minister N Biren has been boldly claiming of healthy relationship between police and people at several forums and government programmes, National People's Party vice president Kh Loken has contended that the CM's assertion has been contradicted by the police atrocities on an innocent person at Iram Siphai on December 2 .
Speaking to media persons, Kh Loken denounced that Wangoi police personnel arrested one Salam Ratan of Iram Siphai, who came to have paan in a nearby shop and was beaten black and blue on the night of December 2 demanding to bring out a gun.
Chief minister N Biren frequently claimed that the law and order situation in the state has improved with the coming of BJP-led government and the people do not have any fear of police.
However, the recent incident was contradictory to all the tall claims made by the CM, he reiterated while urging the government to look into the matter and take appropriate actions against the involved personnel.
Stating that such police brutality was unheard of for a long time, Loken asked the government to take initiatives so that such act does not recur.
Loken made it clear that he will not remain silent when police, who are there for protecting the people, threatened and thrashed innocent person black arid blue.
