Dimapur, July 05 2013 : 18 Assam Rifles have destroyed an illegal camp of NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) located in the jungle near Inbung village near Athibung under Peren district of Nagaland.

According to the Assam Rifles source, the NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) had established this camp against the Iaid down Cease Fire Ground Rules.

Assam Rifles troops found the camp lacation vacant as the cadres had fled.

However, a detailed search of the camp resulted in recovery of documents, utensils, beddings and various other incriminating items.

The size and infrastructure at the camp site indicates that the camp had the capacity to support about 20 cadres.

The source said that the presence of cadres and extortion in the area were reported by the villagers for some time.

Destruction of the camp by Assam Rifles would bring relief to the residents of the area who were reeling under extortion activities being carried out by various UG factions in the name of taxation, the Assam Rifles added.
