Imphal, November 04 2023:
CPI Manipur State Council secretary L Sotinkumar has advised the government of Manipur to announce ceasefire with armed Kuki militants, who are violating SoO ground rules and waging a war against the government and the people, so as to bring about a political solution to the unrest situation at the earliest.
Addressing media persons at Irawat Bhawan, here, on Saturday, L Sotinkumar said that the present crisis in Manipur is a fallout of the demand for a separate administration by the armed Kuki militants with support of foreign hands.
The 10 opposition political parties had made it clear that the objective of the armed Kuki militants is to create a state or country for the Kukis settling in Myanmar, Mizoram and Bangladesh.
Though it is clear about involvement of foreign elements in the crisis as already stated by the Union Home minister, NIA, Manipur Governor and chief minister, yet the central and the state governments have not made any attempt to stop the foreign aggressors from carrying out unwanted activities in Manipur nor have they discussed the issue in the parliament or the assembly, Sotinkumar said.
He, however, expressed satisfaction over the action of the state and para military forces conducting operations in Moreh to arrest the culprits involved in the killing of Moreh SDPO Ch Anand and recovering various arms and ammunition in the process.
Sotinkumar also said that Kuki militants bound by SoO agreement with central and state governments found missing in their designated camps in Moreh proves that they are violating the SoO ground rules.
He also said that the government should ensure safe return of the people displaced from Moreh, Kangpokpi and Churachandpur to their respective homes.
In addition, the frequent blockades along the national highways should be controlled by the state and central forces.
While contending that the 10 Kuki MLAs are misleading the union home minister and central leaders in connection with the crisis in Manipur, he demanded immediate dismissal of the 10 legislators as members of the Assembly rather than wait for instruction from the central government in this regard.
The secretary also demanded the state government to pressurise the PM and other central leaders for taking up appropriate actions against those demanding separate administration.
