DGAR tours violence-hit areas

Imphal, September 04 2024: Director General Assam Rifles (DGAR) Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera visited the state and physically assessed areas affected by the ongoing violence on Wednesday.

Lt Gen Lakhera, who assumed charge as DGAR with effect from August 1, 2024, met commanders of AR units deployed in areas worst hit by the violence that broke out on May 3, 2023 .

He along with IGAR (South) Maj Gen Ravroop Singh visited Sagolmang area in Imphal East district via helicopter and inspected present situation in the area.

According to sources, DGAR Lt Gen Vikas Lakhera also met victims of drone attack carried out by Kuki militants in the past few days in Kadangband areas of Imphal West district and personally collected ground reports.

PRO of IGAR (South) usually issues statements whenever high ranking officials of the force visit the state but there has been no official conveyance from relevant authority about DGAR's visit this time.
