Free taxi service for Covid testing launched

Volunteers of Disaster Relief Forum (VDRF) Manipur under their Covid Response Fund launched its second phase of free taxi service for COVID testing in Kakching district.
A Forum release informed that the free taxi service was flagged off by Kakching district superintendent of police Victoria Yengkhom at her office premises on Wednesday.
The VDRF had earlier launched the first phase of the free taxi service from May 21 to June 21 and facilitated 850 persons to avail the service.
Speaking to reporters, VDRF members informed that the service was launched to provide free taxi service to people of Kakching and adjoining areas for COVID testing at hospitals, health centres and designated testing centres.
"This service aims at facilitating early testing and hopefully increase the number COVID testing which may be vital to contain the virus and flatten the infection curve," said a member of the VDRF.
The second phase of the free taxi service will last a month and the vehicle will ferry people for testing from home to hospitals and testing centres as well as to COVID care centres, said the release.
It also informed that the Forum under its COVID Response Fund is continuing to provide Covid relief materials and medical kits including Oxygen Concentrators, Oximeters, Hand sanitizers, Sodium Hypochlorite, PPEs, monetary assistance and other items to clubs, localities and Covid Care Centres.
