IBSD promotes women bio-entrepreneurship at IISF

Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD) has established BioNEST Incubator for 'Promoting Women Bio-entrepreneurship in Orchid Floriculture' at the India International Science Festival (IISF), 2024 at Guwahati, Assam.
As per a release by IBSD, professor Pulok Kumar Mukherjee highlighted various activities of BioNEST Incubator in an event on 'Science Odyssey of the North East' during the IISF 2024 and discussed various opportunities for the development of startups in NER.
The IBSF director said major focus of the programme is on capacity building and training of women bio-entrepreneurs and farmers from different parts of Ri-Bhoi, an 'Aspirational District' of Meghalaya.
IBSD is participating at the IISF 2024 underway since November 30 at IIT, Guwahati, first city in the North East region to hold the event.
Union minister of state for science & technology Dr Jitendra Singh visited the IBSD stall and interacted with director and other staff.
During the visit, he encouraged the women bio-entrepreneurs and beneficiaries of BioNEST Incubator of IBSD for the entrepreneurship development through orchid floriculture.
Union Ministry of Science and Technology Department of Biotechnology (DBT) secretary Dr Rajesh S Gokhale also interacted with women beneficiaries of BioNEST Incubator which is funded by DBT Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC), New Delhi for the development of women bio-entrepreneurship through floriculture, it further said.
