SVEEP campaign for trans-voters held

In view of the upcoming state assembly election and as part of the ongoing Special Summary Revision exercise, a special Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) campaign for transgender voters was organised by District Election Office (DEO) in association with Maruploi Foundation, Bishnupur at the conference hall of mini secretariat complex here on Tuesday.
Following a cVIGIL pledge-taking programme by the participants, DIT Bishnupur Manipur district Oinam Prasanta led a technical session as the resource person covering Ethical Voting & Franchise Rights including cVIGIL and its importance.
The transgender community urged the DEO to arrange separate queues for transgender voters on polling day during the interactive session.
ADC H Bobby Sharma, AC to DC/EO Eiai Hassan and SVEEP nodal officer, Bishnupur Dr Salam Dhana Singh attended the session.
Soon after the interactive session, a SVEEP activity in connection with Special Summary Revision for transgender voters was held at the office premises of SDO Bishnupur to facilitate enrolment, correction and revision for the community.
Mention may be made here that the DEO also set up SVEEP Stall during the recently concluded second edition of 'Go to Village' camp at Ngaikhong Khunou playground urider Oinam AC.
During the 3-day camp, new and existing voters were provided services for enrolment, corrections, updating B/W photo to colour besides issues concerning with Persons with Disabilities (PwD) rights were resolved.
The DEO, Bishnupur organised a series of SVEEP outreach campaigns across the district throughout the month to encourage voters' participation.
Quiz competitions for young voters, mobile campaigns, street plays, cVIGIL pledge taking sessions and distribution of paper bags with SVEEP imprint among others marked the outreach activities.
