Imphal, December 31 2020: The Mao Council has condemned the alleged setting Dziiko and Mt Esii area on fire, which causes irreparable loss to nature.

Owing to the high altitude and rich deposits of fallen leaves and twigs, the fire aflame colossally causing rapid spread and large scale devastation to the flora and fauna of the area, said a press release issued by the publicity cell of the council.

Further stating that they (the council) also felt a major hazard to the environment besides the unaccountable loss of forest produce, the Mao Council urged the State Government to reward befitting punishment to the culprit involved.
