KSA stresses sensitisation of students on mobile addiction

Kangleipak Students' Association (KSA) on Monday convened its annual general body meeting to elect its new office bearers for the term 2021-22-23 .
The meeting was held at the Centenary Hall of Manipur University and was attended by national and international awardee H Ibotombi as chief guest, KSA ex-president Ningthoujam Chetan as president and UCM president Joychandra Konthoujam as guest of honour.
During the meeting, altogether 23 members were elected including Sukham Bidyananda as president, Seram Hemjit as vice president, Thiyam Johnson as secretary general, Romen Soibam as finance secretary, Sanjoy Khullakpam as secretary (HRD), Huirongbam Babloo as secretary (YAS), Toijam Ranakumar as secretary (publicity), and Khoisnam Sanjoy as secretary (Grievance) .
Speaking at the event, newly elected president Bidyananda informed that a detailed plan of the student body's upcoming activities would be made public soon after a meeting of the executive council.
The activities would mostly prioritise the education sector, along with focus on sports and art and culture.
KSA will also focus on strengthening the bond among the indigenous communities of the state, in addition to taking up measures to sensitise students about their mobile addiction, he conveyed.
Stressing the need to assess the status of the education system in the state, the new president also emphasised on assessing the transparency in the college admission process of Class XII students along with that of Class X students after their examinations.
"Furthermore, students transferring back to schools in the state from schools outside the state not recognised by BSEM or CoHSEM are troublesome, as it acts a potential deterrence to the future career of the students.
Meanwhile, students are increasingly getting addicted to mobile games, which affect their study.
Thus, KSA believes that sensitization is the need of the hour to make the students overcome their mobile addictions" he contended, while maintain that concerted efforts of all in addition to that of the government is important in this regard.
