State trio held with heroin worth Rs 19 cr in W/Bengal

The Special Task Force (STF) of West Bengal Police and Government Railway Police (GRP) have reportedly arrested three persons from a train at New Jalpaiguri Railway station and seized heroin worth Rs 19 crore from their possession, an officer said.
A PTI report quoting statement issued by the STF informed that the STF and GRP raided a compartment of Dibrugarh-New Delhi Special Rajdhani on Wednesday and arrested the three persons all residents of Manipur and seized 3.8 kg heroin from their possession.
The value of the seized heroin in the international market is Rs 19 crore, it said, adding that a case has been started against the accused persons.
Meanwhile, team of NAB police station has arrested two drug peddlers along with 390 grams of heroin on Wednesday at around 11.30 pm.
The nabbed peddlers have been identified as Abdul Laskar (34) and Tachinul Amin (23) both residents of Kachudaram Part 4, Assam.
According to police, acting on reliable information the team conducted frisking and checking near Kakching Lamkhai along Imphal Moreh road on Wednesday night.
During frisking, the team checked a Toyota Etios (AS01A-4626) and found 390 grams of heroin in 30 soap caps.
A case has registered for further investigation, it added.
