Imphal, August 25 2024:
Chandel Naga People's Organisation (CNPO) has voiced serious concerns about two pressing issues affecting the well-being and security of Chandel denizens.
In a statement, CNPO highlighted the recent transfer orders of medical officers issued by the director of health services.
CNPO expressed concern over these transfers, which come at a time when it was preparing to request additional facilities, such as a blood bank, for the District Hospital.
It also appealed to the director to reconsider the transfer orders and to augment the medical team with more doctors and nurses.
The organisation emphasised the need for uninterrupted healthcare services and the fulfilment of long-standing demands for better medical care in the region.
In addition, CNPO has condemned what it describes as "fake recoveries" of guns and ammunition by Assam Rifles, the Border Security Force (BSF), and the Manipur Police in western valley, Chandel.
The organisation has documented two incidents, on June 25 and August 21, where it believes fake recoveries were made.
They warned that if the security forces continue such actions in Naga areas, they should be prepared to vacate.
