7 UG cadres netted, arms recovered

Imphal, March 24 2025:
Security forces recovered large cache of arms and ammunition and the arrested of several UG cadres involved in extortion and abduction during conduct of search operations.
On Monday morning, a joint team of 4th Mahar Regiment and Yangangpokpi police, along with sniffer dog recovered 13 firearms, four 51mm mortars, eight grenades, two IEDs, over 80 live ammunition, several riot controlled explosives and a handheld radio set with charger from Seijang Laiching area under Yangangpokpi police station.
Earlier on Sunday, security, forces recovered one 2-inch mortar, one .32 pistol with a magazine, two hand grenades, several ammunition, magazines and protective gears in another operation in Awaching area under Porompat police station, Imphal East.

In another operation conducted in the jungle near L Phaikot village under Leimakhong PS, Kangpokpi district, security forces recovered three firearms including two assault rifles along with magazines.
Security forces also arrested three persons involved in extortion and abduction activities using the name of KCP (PWG) from Lamdeng Khunou under Lamsang PS .
The arrested individuals have been identified as Wahengbam Wanglen Meitei (22), Moirangthem Changkhonba Singh (18), and Khundongbam Meghachandra Singh (19) .
Three mobile phones, three wallets with Rs 1670, and a car were seized from their possession.
In a separate operation on the same day, three cadres of the proscribed PREPAK (Pro) were arrested from Kumbi Terakhong under Kumbi PS, Bishnupur district.
The arrested cadres have been identified as Oinam Abung Meitei (31), Yumlembam Romesh Singh alias Ratan (47), and RK Navy Meitei (32).One .303 LMG with two magazines, 21 rounds of different calibres, one hand grenade, a four-wheeler vehicle and two mobile phones along with some other items were seized from them.
In another operation, security forces arrested another active member of PREPAK (Pro), identified as Md Taj Khan alias Romen (37), from Mantripukhri Bazar near Kalimai Mandir under Heingang PS, Imphal East.
Police said that he was involved in extorting money from various shops in and around Mantripukhri Bazar.
Two mobile phones and one wallet were seized from his possession.
