Various activities mark Khongjom Day observance

Various organisations and institutions observed Khongjom Day with various activities including poetry recitation, blood donation, motorcycle rally, etc., on Saturday.
Iramdam Meeyamgi Apunba Khorjei Lup (IMAKHOL) organised a poetry recitation as part of its 3rd Khongjom War Memorial programme at' Manipur Hindi Parishad hall.
The event which began with paying of floral tributes to the martyrs was attended by JN Manipur Dance Academy former director Longjam Joychandra as chief guest; IMAKHOL president, Chingangbam Chandrakala as president and Heingang Micro Finance managing director Dilip Konjengbam as guest of honour.
Association of Voluntary Blood Donors, Thoubal District Branch in collaboration with District Health Society Thoubal, Thoubal Police, Nehru Yuva Kendra Thoubal, Waikhom Mani Girls College NSS Units, Lions Club Thoubal Greater Centurion, Sur Hospital Khangabok and Babina Diagnostics, Imphal under the aegis of district administration, Thoubal organised a blood donation camp at Khongjom War Memorial Complex as part of the observance.
The camp held under the theme 'Give Blood to our Martyrs of Manipur' was supported by National Health Mission, Manipur State Blood Cell, Department of Transfusion Medicine, RIMS Imphal and Blood Centre JNIMS Imphal.
A total of 117 people donated blood.
On the other hand, a motorcycle rally of 300 bikers led by Royal Riders Manipur was held as a part of Khongjom Day from Palace Gate till Khongjom War Memorial Complex while Apunba Khorirolgee Malemgee Lup (Malemgee Lup) members visited the Memorial Complex and paid floral tributes to Paona Menjor, Heirangkhongja Chinglensana and other martyrs.
On the other hand, Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) organised a memorial programme on Anglo-Mani-puri War 1891 with vice chancellor Prof N Lokendro Singh as chief guest and MUSU president Sanasam Steven Singh as president.
Manipur University registrar Prof W Chandbabu Singh, Student's Welfare Manipur University dean Dr L Bishwanath Sharma, School of Mathematical and Physical Science dean Prof Y Yugindro Singh and IPSA vice president Khuraijam Athouba were guests of honour of the event.
The observance was marked by paying of floral tributes to the martyrs, distribution of prizes to winners of 1st State Level Kanglei Open Symposium Competition held on Friday and Thang-Ta special cultural show.
Manipur People's Party (MPP), Leimayol Arts Centre, Singjamei; Apunba Poram-len Marup-Manipur Thang Ta (APM), Kwakeithel Leimakhujam Leikai and Whirl of Change also observed Khongjom Day at their respective office premises as well as at Khongjom War Memorial Complex, Kheba hill, Khongjom.
Similarly, Huyel Langlon Thang-Ta Association, Manipur and Thang-Ta Maheikol, Yumnam Huidrom, Imphal West observed Khongjom Day at Thang-Ta Shanglen, Yumnam Huidrom and Sahitya Seva Samiti Kakching Manipur and Macha Chanu Kakching at the residence of Kshetrimayum Joykumar at Kakching Sumak Leikai Leirak Achouba Pareng.
The attendees paid floral tributes to the photo of Paona Brajabashi which was followed by patriotic and spiritual based poetry recitation.
Similarly, Students' Library Association (SLA) Kakching observed Khongjom Day at its hall along with handing over charge to newly elected office bearers for the term 2022-24 .
